“Alaa Allouh is passionate about cultural heritage and how it can be used in peace building efforts in post-conflict communities. Her passion comes from her own experience being a Syrian citizen who witnessed the emergence of the Syrian Revolution in its different stages going through an armed conflict and an all-out civil war, In 2013 she went to Jordan seeking refuge from the political and economic crisis, she became more familiar with the civil society there especially regarding topics related to refugees. In 2014, she travelled to Egypt to pursue undergraduate studies in Political Science. Alaa graduated with a BA degree in Political Science from Future University in Egypt (FUE) in 2016. After graduation she worked as a communications and documentation officer at Terre Des Homme (TdH) and then joined Lazord Fellowship Program at John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy, Civic Engagement, and Responsible Business at American University in Cairo (AUC). During her fellowship she worked as Project Coordinator in Triple Effect project at Price Waterhouse Coppers (PwC) and as a Programs Manager at Misriyati for Peace Education. Currently she pursues a MA degree in heritage conservation focusing on how to use it for peacebuilding efforts in Syria. Alaa also works as a communications officer at Right Track and is interested in developing her own board game for peacebuilding.”
