“Abdallah KHAZENE is an environmental activist, Youth Worker and a Trainer with Salto Euro-
Med .
Abdallah was born in Ain Sefra, Algeria, on 11/04/1979. In 2001, He graduated from Abubakr
Belkaid University in Tlemcen , with BA degree in English Literature.
After receiving his education, Abdallah Khazene worked as a teacher in a Middle school. In
2004 , he was back to teaching in a high school , and later has changed the company to join a
British Firm and teach English language for specific puposes. In 2011, He joined a big National
company where he has worked as a training manager till now.
Abdallah has founded Arc en Ciel NGO with a group of friends who were sharing the same pain
and the same vision. The NGO comes to bring educative and field solutions to enhance the
environment , Heritage, active citizenship and intercultural dialogue.
Since then; He has attended many seminar, short courses and meetings mainly in a relation with
Environment, ecovillages, wetlands, global education, volunteering, Non Formal Education and
Climate Change. We have also ben partners in more than 10 youth exchange projects within
Erasmus +. I am the focal point of Erasmus+ NFE(Non Formal education)activities in Algeria.
Abdallah has worked with GIZ , Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and OXFAM Italy for some Maghreb
sustainable projects. Further more he has been representing the North African Youth at the CEC
– IUCN. Now, Abdallah is the Global Ecovillage Network ambassador in Algeria in Africa; He
shares the same vision of ecovillages and eco-cities of the GEN network where he feels that the
ksour of high Atlas where he lives should be sustainable and ecological because it is the only
way to survive and keep its authenticity, he has been an ALUMNI of an Ecovillage Design
Education course organized along Senegal and has attended two GEN Africa meetings. The best
practices learned with GEN since December 2011 has been of a great impact on him, his NGO
and the ksour of his region, the Eco-Ksour of his region. He has been an intern in WWT a UK
organization for 8 months in charge of CEPA(Communication Education Participation and
Awareness raising) for the International Wetland Network, and participated in professional
fellowship program for 5 months in Washington DC as fellow in buiding curriculum.
